I was accused of seducing driver who harassed me — Queeneth Agbor
Actress, Queeneth Agbor, has spoken up about the backlash she got after making a post on social media that she was harassed by an Uber (cab) driver on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
The actress told Saturday Beats that some people even accused her of seducing the man.
She said, “Sadly, we live in a society where people enable sexual assaulters by blaming the victims.
“For instance, I posted a video of me being sexually harassed in broad daylight by a driver I paid, and some people were commenting that I seduced him, that’s why he did what he did. Some persons even asked what I was wearing though they saw that I was covered. Some even blamed me for posting him.
“That monster actually played Christian music, had a huge rosary in front of his car, yet did what he did. That’s to show you the level of mentally unstable patients we have roaming the street and acting normal.”
She advised people to stop blaming the victims of sexual assault regardless of what they wore during the assault, but should rather take serious actions by punishing the perpetrators whenever such cases come up. That way “These people will learn and be scared. But in a situation where they know their victims will be blamed, it will encourage them to commit a more horrific act,” she added.
